Differences between Algae and Fungi

The differences between Algae and fungi are discuss in below-

 Difference # Algae:

1.Algae cell contain chlorophyll so they are green in colour.
2. Sunlight is essential for growth of algae .
3. Algae can prepare their own food. Therefore they are autotrophic plants
4. Algae developed  in water, wet soil, tree bark, wet rock etc .
5. The plant bodies of algae are  made of true parenchymatous tissue.
6. The cell wall is made of cellulose.
7. In algae , starch grains are usually the reserve materials.

Difference # Fungi:
 1. Fungi cells devoid of chlorophyll so they are non-green.
2. Fungi can grow both in light and darkness.
3. Fungi cannot prepare their own food. Therefore they are heterophytes or heterotrophic plants.
4. Fungi grow in living bodies or in soil or in dead organic substances .
5. Fungi body are usually made of fine threads, called hyphae, which usually form an interwoven mass. A collection of hyphae is called mycelium.
6. The wall is made of fungus- cellulose or chitin.
7. In fungi reserve materials are mainly glycogen and oil.
