Human circulatory system

Circulatory system of human:

The circulatory system of human is consists of a muscular chambered heart, the blood vessels and the blood. Also known as the cardiovascular system, it consists of two circuits that carry the blood around, the smaller being the pulmonary circuit and the larger being the systemic circuit.

Heart :

Heart is mesodermal in origin and it is a cone shaped muscular organ formed by cardaic muscles. The human heart is divided into four chambers- two atria and two ventricles are involved in mixing of oxygenated blood and deoxygenated blood is carried out in the four chambers of the heart. Atria are upper chambers whereas ventricles are the lower chambers.

Blood:
Blood is a liquid connective tissue that
circulates in a closed system of blood
vessels. An adult man has about five to six
liters of blood, while a woman, on an average, has about one liter less. The human blood consists of - red blood corpuscles (RBCs),white blood corpuscles (WBCs), and blood platelets, and liquid element—the plasma.

Red blood cells:
Red blood cells are disk-shaped cells produced in the bone marrow. Red blood cells have no nucleus, and their cytoplasm is filled with hemoglobin.A red blood cell circulates for about 120 days and is then destroyed in the spleen, an organ located near the stomach and composed primarily of lymph node tissue.

White blood cells :
They are specialized in
defense. They fight against foreign particles
entering the body .They are generally larger
than red blood cells and have clearly defined
nuclei. They are also produced in the bone
marrow and have various functions in the
body.
Platelets - Platelets help in clotting of blood at the time of wound or cut.Platelets are small disk-shaped blood fragments produced in the bone marrow.

Blood Vessels
Blood vessel is a pathways through which the blood travels from one part to different parts of the body of humanThree types of blood vessels, namely, arteries, veins and capillaries, are involved in blood circulation.

Arteries:
The arteries are wide, elastic and thick-walled vessels as they carry blood away from the heart to the limbs and organs of the body.

Veins: Blood vessels which transport deoxygenated blood are called veins. They are thin and elastic which bring blood towards the heart.

Capillaries:
The capillaries form a dense network, reaching out to each and every part of the body. The flow of blood is very slow in capillaries.
