Different types of tissue in animal

Types of tissue seen in animal:
A tissue is a group of cells that have a similar shape and function .The four main types of tissues seen in animals. Those types of tissue are: 1. Epithelial Tissues 2. Connective Tissue 3. Muscular Tissue 4. Nervous Tissue.
1) Epithelial Tissues:
The epithelial tissues are formed by cells that cover the organ surfaces .The cells in this type of animal tissue have a regular, well-defined shape and scanty intercellular substance. The cells are usually in contact with one another on a definite basement membrane. The epithelial cells either form compact groups or form a continuous lining on all external or internal free surface. The main functions of epithelial tissue include protection, secretion, sensation, and absorption. They act as a protective barrier against injury and invasion of pathogens like bacteria viruses etc.

Epithelial tissue is called simple epithelial tissue when it is made up of a single layer of cells and it is called compound or stratified epithelial tissue when it is many-layer of cells.

According to the shape of the animal cells which are present near the surface, the epithelial tissue may be:
(a) Squamous

(b) Cuboidal
(c)Columnar

(ii) Connective Tissue:
Connective tissues are mainly fibrous tissues. They are made up of cells separated by non-living material, which is called an extracellular matrix.Connective tissues are in abundance and are all over the body of complex animals. There are three types of connective tissues. These are loose connective tissue, dense connective tissue and specialized connective tissue. Loose connective tissue is Adipose tissue. It is located mainly beneath the skin. Loose connective tissue contains cells and fibers loosely arranged in a semi-fluid ground substance.

Muscular Tissues:
The muscular tissue is made up of muscle fibres which develop from a special type of cells called myoblasts.Muscle tissue is a soft tissue that composes muscles in animal bodies, and gives rise to muscles ability to contract. Muscle tissue varies with function and location in the body. According to the structure of myoblasts, muscular tissue divided into striated muscles, smooth muscles and cardiac muscles

Nervous tissues:
Nervous tissue is found within the nervous system and it is made up of (A) nerve cells and (B) nerve fibres .It is comprised of specialized cells which receive stimuli and conduct the impulses to and from different parts of the body. The functions of Nervous system include processing and transferring information .
